May 23, 2021 Carolina Beach NC to Cape Lookout NC

It's pretty easy to get out of bed at daybreak and spring into action when you know the days left till home can be counted on one hand. And today will be a significant jump of 70 miles, outside, moving up the North Carolina coast.

We went a few miles on the ICW to Wrightsville Beach Inlet, hung a right through the jetties and were happily back in the Atlantic. Winds were fairly light so we put up the spinnaker and ran with it most of the day.

It was easy sailing for 13 hours and we pulled into Cape Lookout easily before sunset.  The basin here is as full as we have ever seen it, 12 boats.

We were delighted to look out the window and see 7 wild horses grazing on the beach.

We'll spend tomorrow here, then Tuesday we'll round Hattarras and be on the final approach.
